Cub World Adventure Days Camp at Camp Snyder

Resident Camp

Remember to use Pack 160, NCAC Council and Powhatan District on the "Required Forms" tab.  After you have signed up and paid, please let me know that you have done so and which camp your Scout will be attending.

Also, let me know if you are willing to be an alternate parent for Resident Camp.  We need at least one leader for eight boys and it would probably help to have a second parent as well.

For the Adventure Days, each Scout family must volunteer at least one day to be a driver/walker.  We generally need one walker per five boys, so think about which day (Mon-Thur) you would be able to join us for the day and transport some of the boys to/from the camp.  You get to participate in the fun the whole day.

I look forward to having another great Summer at Camp Snyder.

Cub World Day Camp

Last updated Mar 28, 2012

Pack 160 scouts of all ranks and their cub scout-age sisters are eligible to attend Cub World adventure Days day camp at Camp William B. Snyder this summer.  The camp, located in Haymarket, Virginia, will offer scouts and their sisters opportunities to participate in lots of fun activities tied to a specific theme.

Scouts and sisters from the Pack will attend as a single den, moving between four different program activities each day.  Program activities are led by paid camp staff, but the Pack is required to provide at least two adult den walkers each day.  For this reason, parents who send a scout to day camp are asked to commit to at least one day as a den walker and carpool driver.  A bagged lunch is provided for all youth and adult participants in the air conditioned dining hall.

Parents should read the Parent & Leader Guide carefully for complete details.  Note that completed medical forms (Parts A & C, which are found in the guide) are required for all participants, including adult den walkers.

Dates & Times:  Pack 160 will attend Adventure Days on dates July 23rd through July 26th.

Cost:  Early registration before May 1st, $175. Regular registration is $195 per scout.  Registration after June 1st will be $215.

How to register:  Please register online. Be sure to check your registration carefully for the correct session:
Adventure Days at Camp W.B. Snyder Session B and be sure to note that your son is part of Pack 160. Please notify our Pack coordinator, Robert Albritton, once you have registered.

We’re going to Goshen!!!

Last updated Nov 14, 2011

Rising Webelo I’s (current Bears) and Webelo II’s have the opportunity to attend Camp PMI at the Goshen Scout Reservation this summer.  This year, Pack 160 scouts will attend TBD.  Goshen is located in the Shenandoah Valley near Goshen, VA, and is about 175 miles (roughly three hours) from Oak Hill.

The boys’ week starts with travel on a chartered bus, which leaves from the Fairfax County Government Center.   During their week, they’ll participate in all sorts of scouting programs, including aquatics, nature, crafts, sports, hiking, and shooting!  They’ll come home tired, smelly, wet, dirty, and having had a whole lot of fun!

If you plan to send your scout to Goshen and would like to get the early bird discount, you’ll need to submit the Pack 160 registration form and payment to Kevin Romance by April 28.  The registration form is in Microsoft Word format and may be e-mailed to Kevin or submitted on paper.  The fee of $303 includes the $265 camper fee plus $38 for round-trip transportation by chartered bus.  Checks should be made payable to NCAC-BSA.  After April 28, the total fees & transportation cost goes up to $348 until June 4.

Please note that, though a parent is not required to attend with each scout, as a Pack we MUST provide at least two parents to accompany our unit per five children.   Parents who wish to attend must commit to either a half or full week (sorry no discount for half-week attendees).  There is a charge of $185.00 for adult attendees who pay on or before April 28.   Typically adults have not ridden the bus, with the exception of the coordinator, so this $185.00 does not include a bus fee.  Again, this price is an early bird price and will go up if the adult registers and pays after the end of April, so consider now if you’ll be able to attend and provide the information with your child’s registration.  If you attend with your scout, then, the early bird charge for the camp would total $488.00.  Though more expensive, parents who have attended in the past have had a wonderful time witnessing the growth and “fun” of their scout there.  Just ask Jim Pasquale about the great coffee!

Plan ahead:  Please note that all scouts and adults who attend must have a completed Personal Health & Medical Form  - Class A-B-C, which does require a physical exam by a medical provider within the twelve months prior to camp attendance.
